Dr. Cheng received his Ph.D. degree from National Sun Yat-sen University, under the supervision of Prof. Jentaie Shiea. He started his postdoctoral training in Prof. Shiea’s lab first, and then went to Genomic Research Center of Academic Sinica to develop the skill for building miniaturize mass spectrometer. Currently, he is an assistant research specialist at Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center, Academia Sinica. Dr. Cheng has involved in the researches to develop (1) novel ionization sources, such as dual ionization source combining electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) together to simultaneously ionize both polar and nonpolar compounds and flame-induced atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (FAPCI) source for desorption/ionization of chemical and biological compounds in solid or liquid states, and (2) new interfaces for coupling thin layer chromatography or gas chromatography to mass spectrometer. These works were published in Anal. Chem., Anal. Chim. Acta, Int. J. Mass Spectrom., and J. Food Drug Anal., respectively.
